Making Hay

1952. Making a haystack. Tractor is a 1947 Allis Chalmers WC with Farmhand. Hand cranked to start. No power steering and brakes were hand levers.

1964. My dad stacking hay with the '47. Note the tank for hydraulic fluid at the back. Our Neighbor on top of the stack. When it was a stack you opened the back of the form like swinging two gates open and then pulled it from around the stack. I never stacked hay with that tractor but I "bucked" swaths into piles. By 1964 there were better ways to put up hay. This was an oat field that got hailed out.

Seems kinda precarious!
