I saw the Navy training film of the fire aboard the USS Forestal in 1977 and a few times since.

For years I've remembered a brave pilot crawling out on the nose of his burning plane and jumping into the fire. Not until he ran for president in 2000 did I learn that same pilot was John McCain.
